The Bull Arab is an Australian working breed developed for pig hunting, and it is one of the most common large dogs in NSW pounds and rescues. Are Bull Arabs good family dogs?
With the right home, yes. A well-socialised Bull Arab is loyal, affectionate and gentle with its family, and many are good with children they are raised alongside. The cautions are size and drive: this is a large, powerful dog with a strong prey instinct, so supervision around small children and care around cats and small animals matter, and it suits an active home with room and time rather than an apartment.
Do Bull Arabs need a lot of exercise?
Yes. The Bull Arab is a working breed with real stamina, and it needs daily exercise plus mental stimulation to stay settled. A bored, under-exercised Bull Arab can become destructive. Long walks, secure off-lead running, training and enrichment all help. This is a dog for someone with an active lifestyle and the time to meet its needs.
Are Bull Arabs restricted in NSW?
No. The Bull Arab is not on the NSW restricted-breed list and is legal to own and rehome normally. Like any dog in NSW it must be microchipped and registered on the NSW Pet Registry, and desexing lowers the lifetime registration fee.
