About Monty

Campsie, NSW Meet Monty 🐾 Your Professional Couch Warmer! Ten years young, a little bit spicy, and absolutely committed to the art of doing sweet nothing — Monty is a Moodle who knows exactly what he wants out of life. And these days, it’s pretty simple: a leisurely daily stroll, a comfy couch, a sunny spot to snooze in and a human to snuggle up with. Honestly, he might be onto something. Monty is a lovely older gentleman who has traded his party days for the quiet life. He walks beautifully on lead and still enjoys getting out for his daily adventures, but half an hour of walking is plenty before he’s ready to clock off and return to his favourite hobby: napping. He can be a little anxious in certain situations and takes medication to help him feel his best. He’s particularly suspicious of delivery drivers and posties — as far as Monty is concerned, anyone approaching the house with a parcel is clearly up to no good! He’ll need a home that understands his worries and can help him feel safe and settled. His ideal home 🏡 Monty would love a calm, predictable home with people who appreciate the finer things in life, like a quiet afternoon and an uninterrupted nap. He has lived happily in an apartment before, provided he has access to a suitable toilet area, so he doesn’t need a big backyard or a sprawling property to be happy. Older, dog-savvy children may be suitable, but a home without young children or babies would be best. Once Monty knows you’re one of his safe people, he can relax and show you his sweet side. What about other pets? 🐶🐱 Cats are a firm no. Monty is not interested in making feline friends, and we think it’s best to respect his very clear opinion on the matter! Other dogs are a little more complicated. Monty can feel anxious around unfamiliar dogs and prefers a bit of personal space. Once he understands another dog isn’t a threat, he can coexist happily with them. He previously lived with another Poodle for five years, so the right canine companion could be a possibility — ideally a calm, respectful dog who won’t insist on being his new best friend immediately. He can also share space with other dogs at the groomer, so he’s capable of keeping his cool when he feels comfortable. For now, walks on lead are best while we continue to understand what helps him feel safe around other dogs. Monty's dream retirement plan ☀️ A gentle walk each day, a peaceful home, a warm patch of sunshine and plenty of cuddles with his favourite humans. No marathons, no hectic social calendar, no unnecessary drama — just the good life. If you’re looking for a low-key companion who’s happiest pottering along beside you before settling in for a serious afternoon snooze, Monty could be your perfect match. He may be ten, but he still has plenty of love to give. All he needs is someone who understands him, respects his boundaries and is ready to share the couch. Ready to give this distinguished little gentleman his golden years? Monty is ready to meet you. ❤️
