Just imagine: if you adopt young Ruben, you could spend years belting out Reuben James by the late, great Kenny Rogers. He’s a Huntaway-Mastiff x. “Ruben is a lovely big boy who enjoys playing with toys,” staff say. “He hasn't had a lot of interactions with other dogs but we have found him to enjoy the company of fellow Burnie guest Hazel while in our care. They have a great time playing with each other as their energy levels are suitably matched. “Ruben can be nervous meeting new people and will take a bit of time to warm up to you but once he has, he will become more relaxed and happy to head off for a walk or play fetch with you. Squeaky toys seem to be his favourite, and he loves his treats.” This great news for the training he will need. “We’re looking for someone experienced with large dogs,” staff say. Ideally we’d like a family willing to devote the time, patience and tender loving care to understanding Ruben’s needs and letting him grow in confidence at his own pace.
