We originally took Pepsi on because she deserved a second chance at life. She had been through a lot, and we could see the sweet dog underneath her fear and behavioural challenges. We wanted to give her the time, patience and consistency she needed to learn to trust again and become the wonderful companion we knew she could be. We're incredibly proud of how far she's come. Pepsi has blossomed into a beautiful, affectionate, friendly and much more confident dog, and it's been rewarding to watch her transformation. Our circumstances have now changed, and we're preparing to start travelling. Rather than keep Pepsi in a lifestyle that may not suit her long term, we'd love to find her a loving forever home where she can settle, feel secure and continue to thrive. This isn't about Pepsi being a problem or not being loved. Quite the opposite. We took her on to give her a chance, and now we want to give her the opportunity to enjoy the next chapter of her life with a family who can offer her the stability, companionship and adventures she deserves. Finding the right home is our priority, and we're happy to keep her with us until that happens.

Pepsi's story hasn't always been an easy one, but it's one of second chances, determination and discovering the beautiful dog hiding underneath a few rough edges. We originally took Pepsi on because a dog rescue company was considering euthanasia, and we, along with her foster carers, believed she deserved a chance. She had experienced some difficult times, had very little training and struggled with fear, anxiety and trusting people. We could see the sweet dog underneath it all, so we decided to work with her. With patience, consistency and plenty of love, Pepsi has blossomed into a beautiful, friendly and much more confident companion. Now, as our circumstances are changing and we're preparing to start travelling, we'd love to find Pepsi a home where she can settle permanently and enjoy the life she deserves. So, what's Pepsi really like? She's a little character with a cheeky sense of humour! Pepsi loves her people and wants to be included in whatever is happening. She's definitely a lap dog if you let her be one, loves a cuddle on the couch and is more my husband's dog than mine! She's affectionate, entertaining and full of little quirks that make her who she is. A few things you should know about Pepsi: She's a clever cookie. Highly food motivated, she makes training a breeze. However, she will absolutely try to work out the bare minimum she needs to do to earn a treat! You need to make sure she follows through, or she'll have you trained instead. She's an adventurer. Pepsi travels beautifully in the car, has enjoyed caravanning with us and has no separation anxiety. She's happy to be part of your adventures and equally happy to relax at home. She's a natural scent dog. Her nose is always working, and she's a very enthusiastic mouser. If there's something to investigate, she'll probably find it! She's a toy enthusiast. Squeaky balls are a favourite, and she loves a bit of roughhousing with her people. She can get a little mouthy during play, but has never bitten. She's competitive at bedtime! Pepsi races us to bed as though there's a prize for getting there first. She's a little dog with a big opinion about where she should be. She's a good little watchdog. Pepsi isn't much of a barker. If we're home and someone comes to the door, she'll usually give two or three barks. If we're out, she'll let visitors know she's keeping an eye on things until they leave the carport, then settle down. She loves her walks. She can get very excited when she knows it's time to head out, so we let her settle before setting off. A little patience at the beginning makes all the difference. Pepsi is inside/outside dog and comes and goes as she pleases through a doggie door, day, night and when we are not home. She is completely toilet trained. What about people and other animals? Pepsi loves people and enjoys being included in family life. She remembers people, too! When we have housesitters come to meet her, she's usually much more excited to see them the second time around. Our very first housesitters returned after 12 months, and Pepsi was beside herself with excitement to see them again. Once you're part of her circle, she doesn't forget you. She can initially be a little standoffish with some older men, which we believe is connected to being beaten with a walking stick in an earlier placement. Once she knows and remembers you, she's comfortable and affectionate. She absolutely adores my elderly parents. Pepsi generally prefers to keep to herself around other dogs, and we do not use dog parks or encourage meets and greets. If a dog is aggressive, she does not take the flight option, however has never bitten, but we do not set her up for failure. She doesn't like cats, and we haven't properly tested her around them, so a cat-free home would be preferable. She's had limited exposure to toddlers, but our visiting toddler grandchildren have been around her without any issues. She can be a little nervous around young children and lots of loud noises, so we'd want any interactions to be carefully supervised and her comfort respected. What sort of home would suit Pepsi? Pepsi would suit someone who wants a loving companion with a bit of cheek and plenty of personality. She would benefit from a home where she can be included in everyday life, enjoy walks and adventures, have a comfortable spot on the couch (or your lap!), and continue building on the wonderful progress she's already made. Someone who understands that trust takes time, appreciates her intelligence and is happy to maintain her training would be ideal. Pepsi has worked hard to get where she is today. She's not the frightened, difficult dog she once was. She's a brave little soul who has learned to trust, enjoy life and show people what a lovely companion she can be. A few practical details Pepsi is desexed and vaccinated. She will also come with her own collection of belongings, including beds, blankets, jackets, toys, a car crate, bowls, leads, collars, harnesses, towels, dog wash and food, along with any flea and tick treatments we have available. We're happy to arrange meet and greets at our home and will keep Pepsi with us until the right placement is found. We'd love her to meet her new people in familiar surroundings and have the opportunity to get comfortable with them before moving. We're not looking for just any home. We're looking for the right home. We took Pepsi on because she deserved a chance. We've worked hard to help her become the dog she is today, and now we'd love to see her enjoy the next chapter of her life with someone who will love her as much as we do.
