Macka is a big, affectionate goofball with a heart of gold who is looking for a very specific home where he can continue to thrive. He was surrendered to GAWS because his excitement around the young children in the home became too much to manage, so we are recommending a home without young children. Macka struggles with emotional regulation and can become easily over-aroused in exciting situations. When overwhelmed, he can lose his ability to make good decisions, leading to behaviours such as mounting other dogs and difficulty settling. He has made fantastic progress through structured behavioural work but will need an experienced owner who can provide calm, consistent guidance and continue building on these skills. Macka must be the only dog in the home. While he enjoys socialising with other dogs, he is only successful with carefully managed introductions and supervision. He is not suited to off-lead dog parks or busy social environments. Despite his challenges, Macka is an incredibly affectionate, goofy boy who loves his people and will make a loyal, rewarding companion for the right family. He previously spent his days outside and slept inside at night, so he may need some help adjusting to a new routine. Macka may also be suitable for a home with cats, pending a successful introduction. For an experienced owner willing to provide structure, consistency, and ongoing training, Macka has so much love to give and will make a wonderful lifelong companion.
