About cat adoption in Hervey Bay

Most of the animals the Maryborough District Animal Refuge lists are cats and kittens. The refuge is at 4 Bright Street in Maryborough, a short drive from Hervey Bay, and has rehomed animals from the Fraser Coast since the 1970s. Cats it lists show first on this page, followed by RSPCA Queensland cats from Bundaberg.

To adopt, download the refuge's cat application form and email it in; the refuge is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Each kitten and cat is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and health checked before it goes home. Fees are not published online, so ask when you enquire.

Cats do not need to be registered on the Fraser Coast, but council rules require them to be desexed by 22 weeks of age, microchipped, and kept contained to your property unless they are on a lead or in a carrier. A house can keep two cats, or one in a unit, before approval is needed for more.
