Marsden Park, NSW Meet Akubra! Akubra is a special little cattle dog who has come an incredibly long way since coming into care. With minimal handling when she was young, the big wide world was a lot to take in, but with time, patience and the right support, Akubra has blossomed into a funny, affectionate and wonderfully cheeky little character. She takes some time to warm up to new people and is much more comfortable in quieter environments. She particularly prefers women, and earning a place in her inner circle is something that takes time — but once you're part of her crew, you get to see the real Akubra: a silly, affectionate, playful little cattle dog who loves having fun and being with her people. Akubra is smaller than your average Cattle Dog, but she certainly doesn't lack personality! She loves running through the bush, playing in the water and getting out and about in quieter environments. She has also mastered her leash walking, is house trained and crate trained. Busy areas, heavy traffic and lots of activity are likely to always be challenging for Akubra, so she isn't looking for a life in the middle of the city. However, in the right rural or quiet suburban setting, she can absolutely live a wonderful, full and adventurous life. 🏡 My Ideal Home Akubra needs a quiet home in a rural or peaceful suburban area, away from heavy traffic and busy environments. Her new family will need to understand that transitioning her into a new home will take time. She needs someone experienced who is willing to let her settle at her own pace, build trust and continue supporting her confidence without pushing her too quickly. A confident, well-settled dog is essential. Akubra absolutely loves other dogs and relies on them to help show her the ropes and provide reassurance in new situations. My Energy Level Akubra is an active girl who loves getting out and about. She enjoys running through the bush, exploring, playing and, of course, having fun in the water. She is not looking for a sedentary lifestyle and would love people who enjoy getting outside with her. She's also house trained and crate trained, so once she's comfortable, she's very capable of settling into home life. 🚗 Getting Around Akubra isn't a huge fan of the car, but she has made huge progress from where she started and is now much more comfortable travelling. She'll likely always prefer quieter environments and less busy surroundings, but her progress so far shows just how much she can achieve with patience and consistency. 👧 My Suitability with Children Akubra has successfully lived with a young child and can be a lovely part of a family. Like many Cattle Dogs, however, she can get excited and may resort to the classic Cattle Dog nip when she's overstimulated. Her family will need to understand this trait and continue helping her make good choices around children. 🐶 My Suitability with Other Dogs Akubra is excellent with other dogs and having a confident canine companion is essential for her. A settled, friendly dog can help her feel secure, demonstrate that new experiences aren't scary and generally show her how things work in her new home. She has thrived with canine company and we would love to see her adopted with a dog who can be her confident sidekick. Akubra has come such a long way, and we're incredibly proud of the dog she's becoming. She may never be the dog who confidently struts through a busy shopping centre or happily navigates heavy traffic and that's okay. Give her a quiet environment, a confident dog, a little patience and some time to work out that you're her people, and you'll discover a ridiculously affectionate, cheeky little Cattle Dog who is ready for adventures, bush runs, water play and plenty of love. Akubra isn't looking for just any home. She's looking for the right one and for the person who earns a place in her crew, she's pretty special. 💛
