Croydon, NSW Meet Ted Talk 🩵 Meet Ted Talk, an 8-year-old professional cuddler, Velcro dog and fully qualified neighbourhood security officer. Ted's favourite place in the world is wherever his people are. He'll lean against your legs, rest his head on your lap or follow you from room to room just to make sure you're not getting up to anything too exciting without him. Give him a comfy spot beside you and he's a very happy boy. At 8, Ted has officially left the puppy zoomies behind, but he still takes his security duties very seriously. He patrols the garden, keeps an eye on passing cats and carefully investigates every delivery driver who dares approach the house. Once his shift is over, he's more than ready to clock off and get back to his favourite activity... snuggling. Ted is toilet trained, affectionate and wonderfully devoted to his people. He's a low-to-moderate energy guy who enjoys a gentle walk and plenty of sniffing, but he's equally happy spending the rest of the day curled up beside you. My ideal home: Ted is looking for a calm home with a secure garden and, ideally, someone around more often than not. A work-from-home human, retiree or someone with flexible hours would be right up his alley. Ted is an indoor dog and wants to be part of the family, not relegated to the backyard. He also needs a friendly resident dog around his own age or a little younger and of a similar size. Having a canine companion helps him feel much more comfortable and secure, particularly when his humans need to step out. Ted does have some separation anxiety and leash reactivity, so his new family will need to be committed to continuing his training and giving him the time and patience he needs to build confidence. My energy level: Low to moderate. Ted enjoys a gentle stroll, a good sniff around the neighbourhood and keeping up with his important security duties, but he doesn't need a marathon every morning. Once he's had his outing, he's very happy to curl up for a long, luxurious snuggle. My suitability to children: Ted would be best suited to adults or older, calm and dog-savvy teenagers who understand how to give him space while he settles into his new home. My suitability to other cats or dogs: Ted would love a friendly resident dog to keep him company. A calm, easy-going canine friend helps him feel secure, particularly when his humans aren't home. He's currently living happily with Chihuahua and Mini Foxy foster siblings and enjoys having canine company around. Ted is currently working on... Separation anxiety: Ted loves his people very, very much, which means being away from them can be difficult. The good news is that he does much better when he has doggy friends around, and he's already making progress with short, gradual absences. His new family will need to continue building his confidence and avoid leaving him alone for long periods while he settles in. Leash reactivity: Ted can react to certain triggers when he's out walking. We're helping him learn that the world isn't quite as exciting (or scary!) as he sometimes thinks, and he's making good progress with patience and positive reinforcement. Ted isn't a dog who needs fixing. He's a dog who needs time, understanding and someone willing to meet him where he's at. Give him that, and you'll get a ridiculously loyal, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to be your shadow, your couch buddy and, naturally, your personal home security system. 🩵
