Meet Chunky – a 6-year-old Mastiff x Kelpie boy who is looking for his second chance If you've got a soft spot for big dogs with even bigger personalities, then Chunky might just be your perfect match. Chunky is a handsome, intelligent boy who sadly lost the only home he'd ever known. Like many dogs, adjusting to shelter life has been a big change, but every day he continues to show us just how much potential he has. This clever boy has been working incredibly hard with our team, learning new tricks, practising his commands, and building his confidence. He's made fantastic progress during his time in our care and is now looking for a family who will continue his training journey and help him become the very best version of himself. Like any dog who's had a difficult transition, Chunky isn't looking for a perfect home—he's looking for the right one. An experienced owner who understands large breeds, enjoys training, and is willing to invest time into building a lifelong partnership will be rewarded with an incredibly loyal, intelligent, and devoted companion. The Highlights • Knows sit, drop, recall, shake & mat work • Loves tennis balls & squeaky toys • Can settle once given space • Mild to no separation distress observed What You Need to Know • Strong on leash and over-the-top with other dogs • Must be the only dog (for now) • No small children due to size & strength • Not suited to first-time owners • Shows some resource guarding tendancies Chunky needs: Experienced, confident handlers A structured decompression period in his new home Clear boundaries (not overwhelming affection) Daily exercise + mental stimulation (training, nosework, enrichment) Chunky has already come so far, and we're incredibly proud of the progress he's made.
