East Killara, NSW Meet Juicy Lucy ❤️ 55kg of Love, Zoomies and Sofa Snuggles! If your idea of the perfect companion is a big, beautiful girl who loves cuddles, appreciates the finer things in life and occasionally forgets just how much space she takes up, allow us to introduce you to Juicy Lucy! At a whopping 55kg, Lucy is a whole lot of dog and an even bigger personality. She’s an affectionate girl who loves hugs, kisses, toys and spending time with her favourite humans. Walks are great, but they don’t need to be epic adventures — as long as she’s with her person, Lucy is happy. And when she’s home? Well, she’s more than happy to claim her spot on the couch and remind you that personal space is entirely optional. Lucy has a playful side, too. She loves her toys, enjoys a game of fetch in the garden and can get the zoomies when she’s feeling particularly excited. She’s equally capable of settling in for a lazy afternoon, making her a lovely mix of playful and laid-back. But let's be clear: Lucy is a very large, very strong dog, and large or giant-breed experience is essential. She needs someone physically capable of safely managing her and confident enough to continue guiding her as she settles into her new home. Life with Lucy 🐾 Lucy is happiest when she’s included in everyday life. She loves affection, playtime and simply being near her people. She’s toilet trained and, although she can become upset when her humans leave, she settles relatively quickly and isn't destructive. She can be nervous around unfamiliar people, so she'll benefit from calm introductions and a family who won't rush her into situations before she's ready. When she gets excited, she can become a little mouthy, but she responds to clear correction and guidance. Lucy has also had cruciate ligament surgery on both of her rear legs and has fully healed. This is fantastic news, but as a giant girl, ongoing joint care will be important. Keeping her on appropriate joint supplements, maintaining a healthy weight and following veterinary advice around exercise will help support her mobility and reduce the risk of joint problems, including arthritis, as she ages. Her ideal home 🏡 Lucy is looking for a home where she can be the centre of attention — and, preferably, the only pet! A secure backyard is a must for games of fetch, playtime and zoomies. A house or generously sized unit would be best, as this girl needs room to move when her playful side kicks in. She'd also love a family who welcomes dogs on the couch and perhaps at the end of the bed. If you're strict about furniture rules, Lucy may not be the housemate for you! An adult household or one with older, dog-savvy children would be best, given her size, strength and tendency to become mouthy when excited. Her adopters will need experience with large or giant breeds and a commitment to providing ongoing training, structure and appropriate exercise. What about other dogs? 🐶 Lucy can be leash reactive around other dogs. While she is not considered aggressive, she does need ongoing training to help her remain calm and learn to navigate encounters more comfortably. She'll need an experienced handler who can manage her safely, recognise when she needs space and continue working on these skills. To help set everyone up for success, Maggie's Rescue will provide a couple of follow-up training sessions after adoption. These will give her new family practical support and guidance to help them feel confident managing Lucy on walks and improving her responses over time. For now, Lucy should be walked on lead, with appropriate space from other dogs. Dog parks and off-leash walks aren't suitable, and she should be the only pet in the household. Cats are definitely not her cup of tea! The bottom line? ❤️ Juicy Lucy is a big, affectionate, playful girl who has so much love to give. She's looking for experienced humans who appreciate the joys and responsibilities of sharing their lives with a giant dog. In return, you'll get a loyal companion who will happily join you for a stroll, play ball in the backyard, fill your home with her larger-than-life personality and snuggle up beside you as though she weighs approximately five kilograms instead of 55. If you have the experience, space and confidence to help this gorgeous girl thrive, Lucy is ready to find her forever home. She's a whole lot of dog, a whole lot of love, and she's waiting for her people! 💕
