Wilton, NSW Nancy Drew 💕 Nancy Drew is a happy, bouncy little bulldog with a big personality and an even bigger talent for making herself the centre of attention. She’s affectionate, hilarious and wonderfully silly... basically everything you’d expect from a bulldog, with a few extra Nancy quirks thrown in for good measure. She absolutely loves her people, although she can take a little time to feel comfortable with being touched, particularly around her head, neck and bum. If someone she doesn’t know well reaches towards her neck, she may dramatically throw her head back and yelp. Given her history and chronic spinal pain, we think this is likely because she has learned that handling around this area can hurt, so her new family will need to be patient and respectful of her boundaries. Once Nancy knows and trusts you, however, she is a completely different girl, happy-go-lucky, affectionate and very keen to be involved in absolutely everything. She loves belly rubs, food, attention and generally being wherever the action is. She may also employ a little bulldog stubbornness and manipulation when she thinks it might get her what she wants. And honestly, she's pretty convincing. Nancy loves getting out to sniff and explore and would happily spend her day investigating the world around her, but she is equally enthusiastic about finding a sunny spot or comfortable couch and sleeping the afternoon away. She has a wonderful ability to switch between adventure mode and professional nap mode. She has been trusted around lambs and has been good with other dogs. She could potentially live with a chilled-out male dog who understands personal space. She isn't a fan of rude or overly boisterous dogs and will happily let them know when they've crossed the line, Nancy has boundaries, and she's not afraid to enforce them! Nancy's ideal home will be with someone who understands bulldogs, is patient and happy to let her build trust at her own pace. Air-conditioning is essential, as it is for any bulldog, and her family will need to be mindful of her back and avoid rough handling or activities that could aggravate her pain. She hasn't been tested with children, but because of her sensitivity around her neck and back, we'd be looking for a home with teenagers or older children who understand how to interact gently and respectfully with her.
