About Digby

Hi there I'm Digby! I'm 3 years old, a moustached black and white tuxedo male who's large for my age, with white whisker and golden eyes. I look a lot like a Japanese kids show character called Doraemon. My nickname is Dingy because when I get my head scratched my ears flop side to side like a fighter's bell (ding ding ding). When I'm needing to relax I love listening to jazz and hanging out with my foster parents and resident cat. I'm not used to people and startle easily - my foster parent is the only human I'm comfortable with right now but I loveee other cats. I like to follow the leader, where I will watch the resident cat interact with something 2-3 times before I feel comfortable doing it myself. This means I may not be much of a lap cat or will hang out with you from a distance until I see physical examples for me to know it's safe. I warmed up quickly to my foster parent because I saw how the resident cat interacted with them. Once I know I'm safe, I'm super affectionate and a little cheeky. I'm an active bug hunter, love chomping on cat grass and I love to play with anything that I can deem a toy, so keep an eye out for any loose hazards on surfaces low and high! I have the softest, velvety feel, medium length fur and love being touched, I'm a purr engine when I'm in a good mood. I'm not the biggest fan of being picked up or towels being held up at me. I've been working on this with my foster parents with desensitising me and I've come a long way, but please be mindful when handling me, especially for vet visitations! If you respect my boundaries and work within my limits I'm pretty compliant. Please feel free to ask my foster parent more if you decide you'd like to meet me! I love to play, sometimes by letting the resident cat chase me around or I play solo and hoard my toys in my hiding spots (love a cramped space I can unwind in). I have a little yellow duck that's been with me since my time at the shelter that I sleep with, I'm super smoochy, food ob sessed, love being brushed, and love receiving head scratches and booty rubs. I tend to roll forward into a bunny flop and drool when I'm getting into a smooch mood! I chirp instead of meow and I also like to weave in between my foster parent's legs when they're walking around the space, I'm the cutest trip hazard. I'd love to stay but unfortunately the resident cat that I want to bond with is elderly and cannot match my energy. He also isn't the biggest fan of me trying to cuddle with him all the time (I struggle with boundaries but don't we all?), which is why I'm ready for a new home with new playmates that can keep up with my shenanigans. Ideally I'd be best with an experienced, patient owner with an established cat or cats in the home I could bond with for cuddles and guidance, that hopefully will give me the confidence to be myself and settle in easily. It took 3 weeks for me to warm up to my foster parent and be in the space with them without hiding or hissing at them, and trust was built after I saw how the resident cat interacted with them. I think now that I'm more relaxed I think I should be able to adjust a little easier with the right circumstances. Could that person be you? Medical Notes Digby has presented with gingivitis. Dental hygiene may help prevent its development. I am located with my foster family in Como.
