About Ham

Hello prospective family, we are Ham and Hark, a dynamic brother and sister duo, who must be adopted together! We are energetic bundles of fur who love to chase each other around the house and wrestle. Our antics will keep you entertained for hours. We also have a tunnel that we absolutely delight in playing with. Interactive playtime is something we enjoy as well. We like our foster parents to toss our toys around for us to chase and think wand toys are pretty awesome too. Speaking of awesome, treats are another one of our favourite things, especially Inaba Churu's and Dine Creamy treats. Freeze dried chicken is also something we go mad for. In terms of personality and demeanour, we are sweet natured but shy and nervous. We don't like to be picked up and are not lap cats, but once we get to know and trust you we enjoy a good scratch under the chin and will thank you with beautiful wee purrs. We are also very good with our litter trays and use our scratching posts like champs so you don't need to worry about us scratching your furniture. Here's a bit more information from our foster parents to help you get to know us better. Ham is a sweet and gentle boy, but shy and very nervous. It will take some time and patience for him to settle in a new environment with new people, but once he feels safe and comfortable he'll overcome his shyness with you and show you he is a real sweetie. He is always going to be a nervous cat, but the extent of his nervousness should lessen over time. Any loud, unexpected or unusual noise will send him into hiding, as will strangers at the door or in the house. Sudden or fast movement, windy weather and anything out of place, different or new in the house will scare him. He is also terribly afraid of the sound of trucks e.g. on rubbish collection day he hides until he can't hear the trucks in the neighbourhood anymore. He would not cope well with a house on/near a busy, noisy road. Hark is also a sweet and gentle natured cat. She is a little shy, especially with strangers, but not to the extent of her brother. She settled more quickly than her brother, is far less nervous, and is more confident and quicker to trust. Hark has a calming influence on Ham because she is more confident and doesn't scare as readily. In terms of human interaction, she is a very independent girl who is mostly happy to be left to her own devices. To give Ham and Hark the best possible quality of life their ideal home would be quiet, calm and mature (older children would probably be okay). Ham and Hark are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Their total adoption package price is $225 ($112.50 each). Medical Notes Ham is suspected of having a condition called Juvenile Gingivitis. Many cats will grow out of this issue before approximately 2 years of age, however some will have the condition for life. Ham and Hark are located with their foster family in Rivervale.
