August

August has had more than his fair share of adventures, but these days, he'd much rather be curled up on someone's lap enjoying a good scratch. This lovely ginger boy originally arrived in our care as a stray covered in motor oil and needing some TLC. Since then, he's received plenty of care, and we're getting to see just how affectionate and wonderful he really is. During his recent stay in foster care, August settled in within a couple of days and quickly became a very loving companion. He actively seeks out attention, enjoys curling up on laps and will even flop onto his back for scratches before falling asleep in that position! He also has a playful side, particularly enjoying catnip toys and his scratching tower, but is equally happy relaxing and spending quiet time with his people. August also shared his foster home with another young cat. While he was a little hesitant, he was able to tolerate their company, so any introductions to resident cats should be taken slowly. August has also had some medical treatment along the way. His ear infection has resolved, and he's recently undergone dental surgery to treat significant dental disease. His extraction sites are healing well, and he's currently enjoying wet food while recovering. His new family will just need to keep up with regular dental home care and any recommended follow-up care. After everything he's been through, August has shown us that he's a really lovely boy who enjoys the simple things in life: good food, cosy naps, a little playtime and lots of affection. We'd love to see him finally settled into a home where he can enjoy all of that for many years to come. We encourage you to come and meet August at our North Melbourne shelter as soon as possible, as our cats cannot be placed on hold.
