About Dolly
Dolly has discovered that the world is a little less scary when there are tasty treats, fun toys and a friendly cat nearby.
At just six months old, this beautiful little tabby is still learning how to be brave, and the busy shelter hasn't exactly been the easiest place to practise.
When Dolly first arrived, her instinct was to run and hide whenever something unfamiliar happened. But our behaviour team has been discovering what helps her feel more comfortable. Food is a fantastic starting point, and she's quite the enthusiastic little eater! Bring out a toy and you'll see her curiosity start to take over, with her body relaxing as she gets involved in play. She's also beginning to enjoy gentle touch when given plenty of time and encouragement. These might seem like small things, but for Dolly, they're wonderful steps forward.
Interestingly, Dolly seems to find comfort in the company of other cats. She recovers more quickly from frightening moments when other cats are around, so we think she'd benefit from a home with a friendly, confident resident cat who could help show her the ropes. Of course, introductions would need to be slow and gentle.
Dolly's new family will need to give her a quiet room to settle into, a predictable routine and the freedom to approach people when she's ready. She may need a little more patience than your average kitten, but she's already showing us that underneath those nerves is a curious, playful young girl with so much potential.
Dolly is only six months old. She has a whole lifetime ahead of her, and we'd love for her to spend it discovering that the world can be a pretty wonderful place when you're surrounded by people who love you.
Dolly is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Dolly - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
