Russell

About Russell

No, he’s not winking — Russell lost an eye before coming into our care. But it gives him a certain rakish look, reminiscent of eyepatch-wearing Kurt Russell in the 1981 cult movie classic Escape From New York and its sequels. This Russ would like to escape our Devonport Home and find a new place with his forever family. He’s Rottweiler-Ridgeback x who our behaviour trainer has declared must go to a home with a calm-natured doggy friend for companionship and to help him grow in confidence. “Russell is cuddly and affectionate,” staff say. He knows a range of commands which is always a bonus, but he does need to work on his manners when excited, so we think he’d do best in a household with older children. He’s not suitable for a home with cats or poultry, and should not be allowed access to wildlife.
