Murphy is a sweet big goofball, who absolutely adores people. She’s happy around other dogs and will have a short play but is very much a people dog. She follows you around ready at any minute for your attention and wraps her front legs around you for a cuddle on the couch. Murphy has had a good life, but her previous owners didn’t have the time to devote to her anymore. So she’s looking for her new forever home where she can really be part of the family. She sleeps soundly through the night on her dog bed and lets herself out the doggy door for the toilet. She’s currently in a foster home with older kids aged 7 and 9 years old and loves the attention from them. She’s great on the lead and is happy having pats and naps most of the day. Murphy has Addison’s Disease, which means her body doesn’t naturally produce enough cortisol. Other than taking medication morning and night and needing a monthly injection, this doesn’t impact her life. She sometimes just needs a little lie down after getting excited. Murphy needs a family who can promise to take care of her health needs and one where she can be inside with you and part of the action. If you’re looking for a dog who is well and truly past the puppy phase but still has lots of personality and love to give, then Murphy could be your gal. HEALTH WAIVER: Murphy has been diagnosed with Addison's Disease, a condition where her body does not naturally produce enough cortisol. The condition is well managed with medication given morning and night, along with a monthly injection. As long as her treatment is maintained, Murphy can live a happy, active and normal life with minimal impact on her day-to-day routine. She may occasionally need a short rest after becoming very excited or active, but otherwise she enjoys life just like any other dog. Prospective adopters should be aware of her ongoing medication requirements and monthly veterinary care to ensure her condition remains well controlled. Murphy’s medications are below and cost roughly $60 for both medications for a 2 month supply Fluoxetine Capsules 20mg (once per day) Cortisone acetate 25mg (twice daily) As well as a monthly injection of Zycortal Inc 4ml ($130 per month) Murphy was found to have a mild lower left eyelid entropion. This has remained unchanged for years and is not causing any issues at this stage.
