Rory came to SPCA after fracturing his leg, which sadly required amputation, and his owners could not care for him, so he was surrendered to our care to heal up and find his forever home Meet Rory - a gorgeous, soft-hearted Border Collie boy with a big personality, a clever little brain and plenty of love to give! ❤️ Rory came into our care with a fractured leg that unfortunately couldn't be saved, and he needed to have it amputated. He's now a very handsome tripod and has adapted remarkably well to life on three legs. Don't let the missing leg fool you, though - this boy still has all the classic Border Collie energy and enthusiasm! Nothing much seems to slow him down. Being a young Border Collie, Rory is an intelligent, active boy who will need an experienced home that understands the breed and all their wonderful (and sometimes challenging!) characteristics. He's got a clever mind that needs keeping busy, so plenty of mental stimulation, enrichment, training and appropriate outlets for his energy will be important. Rory is also still learning his manners, particularly when it comes to using his mouth appropriately and managing those natural herding instincts. He'll need a family who can continue working on these skills with patience, consistency and positive reinforcement, helping him channel his instincts into appropriate activities. He needs a home without children - with dog-savvy teens and older only. Underneath all that Collie energy is a very sweet, sensitive boy. Rory has a softer side and will need a home that understands him, gives him time to settle and helps him build confidence as he grows. He's looking for someone who appreciates both the busy Border Collie brain and the gentle soul that comes with it. He could love a home with a gentle older dog to show him the ropes. He has yet to be tested with cats - he may find them a bit too exciting! Rory does have a medical waiver relating to his leg amputation and his teeth, which his adoption team would be more than happy to discuss with interested adopters. Rory has already been through a lot in his short life, but he's still such a lovely boy with so much potential. He's looking for a special, experienced home that can embrace his three-legged adventures, keep his clever brain busy and give him all the love and guidance he deserves. Could that special home be yours? ❤️
