About Boogie
Hi, I'm Boogie, AKA Boogz! It's very nice to meet you.
I'm a 2½-year-old short-haired boy who has had a rough start to life. I found myself at Cat Haven and have been in foster care since April 2026.
I can take a while to warm up and learn to trust. With plenty of time, patience and love, I'm slowly coming out of my shell. I prefer gentle approaches and calm voices and I'm not yet comfortable being touched or patted. My foster mum and I are working on this, and I'll move away if she comes too close.
Since being in foster care, I've really blossomed and started showing my funny, mischievous, vocal and playful side. I love playing with toys, especially balls and cat teasers. My absolute favourite is a stuffed green leaf, which I love carrying around. My foster mum is always asking, "Where are you taking that toy, Boogz?"
I'm also a big foodie! I love yummy Dine treats and crunchy treats, and I enjoy my wet food and biscuits too. I'll even take Dine treats from my foster mum's hand now - something that took lots of time and patience to achieve.
I use my litter box very well. I'm mostly tidy, although I do enjoy digging in the litter! Once I'm finished, I'm very pleased with myself and give myself a good clean.
Loud noises can frighten me, including the washing machine, vacuum cleaner, thunder, loud banging and raised voices. When I'm scared, my favourite safe places are under my foster mum's bed or behind the TV unit. After a particularly noisy day, it can take me a while to come back out.
I love sitting on the lounge or dining chair and watching everything happening around me. When my foster mum talks to me, I often give her a slow blink. I also love sunbathing by the back sliding door when the curtains are open and the sun is shining. I enjoy watching birds and bugs - although most of the time, I end up having a nap!
I love a good stretch and scratch on my scratching posts, and I have nightly zoomies when I'm playing. Recently, I've found my meow and become quite the chatterbox! I've even started jumping up on the bed.
I like being near my person and sharing the same room, but I also need my boundaries respected. Recently, I've started hanging out in the kitchen while my foster mum makes a cup of tea or prepares my food - of course, I have to supervise closely!
I'll need to be the only fur baby in my forever home. I'm looking for a quiet, calm and low-stress environment with someone who understands that trust takes time. My forever person (or people) will need to respect my space and give me lots of love, patience and understanding. If I feel overwhelmed or cornered, I may still swipe or hiss a little.
In my time in foster care, I've blossomed and taken some really big steps towards trusting people. I still have a way to go before I feel completely comfortable, but with the right person, I know I can continue to grow into the beautiful boy I'm meant to be.
I'm looking forward to meeting you soon!
Medical Notes
Boogie has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is a retrovirus that can compromise the immune system, spread by fighting and deep penetrating wounds. They should lead a normal life despite this diagnosis, but there are a few special considerations that need to be made in regards to their health and well-being long term. These include being an inside only cat ; slow and careful introduction to other cats; and annual vaccinations and health checks.
Boogie has a waiver for a chipped tooth. Our veterinarians have carefully assessed this chip and no further treatment is currently required.
