Meet Joker! Joker is a handsome black German Shepherd with a big brain, an even bigger personality, and a passion for toys that is hard to match. At nearly 4 years old, this clever lad is looking for a home that appreciates an intelligent, active dog who loves having a job to do. Joker already knows "sit" and is highly responsive to treats, making training both fun and rewarding. He's a smart cookie who enjoys learning and engaging with his people. While he can be a little intense at times, those who get to know him quickly discover he's also a lovely, affectionate boy with plenty of loyalty to give. Joker would suit a home with secondary school aged children who can respect his space and continue helping him build confidence. He can potentially live with a well-matched canine companion after suitable introductions. Like many shelter dogs, Joker can be a little unsure about handling and is still developing his impulse control skills. He'll benefit from patient, positive owners who can continue his training and help him feel secure in his new environment. Joker has a few signs of living life to the fullest, including some old skin and ear troubles and teeth that have seen plenty of use over the years. He's currently enjoying a little extra support to help him cope with the hustle and bustle of shelter life, and we're confident he'll be much happier once he's settled into a loving home where he can relax, play with his toys, and be someone's best mate.
