About Gigi

Annandale, NSW Meet Gigi Gigi is an outgoing, affectionate little Frenchie who seems to think everyone she meets is her new best friend. Humans, house guests, dogs, Gigi is keen to say hello to everyone and can be wonderfully enthusiastic about making friends. She is incredibly affectionate and loves being close to her people, whether that means curling up beside you on the couch, sitting at your desk while you work or following you from room to room to supervise whatever you’re doing. She also has a lovely independent side and is perfectly happy to settle in her crate or dog bed nearby while you’re busy, and she can be left alone for several hours without fuss. Gigi is a relaxed and happy little dog who enjoys car rides, is fantastic at the vet and is very easy to handle, including having her adorable face folds cleaned. She is also a big fan of being brushed and thoroughly enjoys attention. My ideal home Gigi is quite adaptable and could fit into a variety of homes. She would love someone who has the time and energy to keep up with her enthusiasm, while also enjoying plenty of cuddles and companionship. She would suit an active person or family who can provide regular exercise, enrichment and opportunities to explore, while still appreciating her ability to happily settle at home. My energy level: Gigi is a high-energy little dog with plenty of enthusiasm for life. She can happily tackle long, fast walks of 5km or more if her person has the stamina to keep up! She is particularly fascinated by lizards and will spend walks and backyard adventures sniffing, pouncing and investigating anything that looks remotely suspicious. So far, her lizard-catching record remains firmly at zero, but she is having a wonderful time trying. She also loves to dig, so a secure outdoor space where she can safely explore and burn off some energy would be ideal. ### My suitability to children Gigi has had lots of friendly interactions with children and could suit a home with children aged 8 and over. Younger children may also be possible with a gentle introduction and appropriate supervision. She doesn’t jump up, although she does sometimes stand on her hind legs to say hello. At around 8kg, she is small enough to manage easily, but her enthusiasm means she will still benefit from children who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs. My suitability to other cats or dogs: Gigi absolutely loves other dogs and will enthusiastically assume they want to be her friend, even when they haven’t quite agreed to this arrangement! She is still learning to read canine social cues and doesn’t always understand when another dog would prefer some personal space. She enjoys being around dogs but doesn’t appear to have had much experience with appropriate dog-to-dog play and can be unsure about what to do when another dog wants to chase or wrestle. Continued positive experiences with calm, well-mannered dogs will help her develop these skills. She is curious about cats and has noticed them while out and about, but she has not been tested living with cats. She is also fascinated by turkeys, lizards and pretty much anything else that moves! Gigi is a typical Frenchie in all the best ways, affectionate, entertaining, enthusiastic and, of course, equipped with some truly lethal farts! She will be recovering from surgery to repair a hernia, so her new family will need to allow her the appropriate time to recover and follow veterinary advice during this period. Once recovered, this little social butterfly will be ready to get back to doing what she loves most: being with her people, making friends and investigating the world.
