Wolli Creek, NSW Meet Poet Poet is a sweet, affectionate young dog who loves being close to his people. Once he feels comfortable, his playful personality comes out and you’ll see little bursts of zoomies, gentle play, sniffing games, chew treats and plenty of pawing for attention. He is very people-oriented and has already made wonderful progress learning household routines. Poet has a moderate, youthful energy level and enjoys daily walks, exploring and sniffing everything interesting, but once his physical and mental needs are met, he is more than happy to settle beside his people for a chew or a nap. He would make a devoted little shadow for someone who enjoys having a loving dog involved in everyday family life. My ideal home: Poet is looking for a calm, loving and patient home with people who enjoy having him nearby and including him in their daily life. He forms strong bonds with his humans and loves affection, companionship, walks and relaxed time together at home. As a young dog who is still learning about the world, he will thrive with adopters who can provide a predictable routine, gentle guidance and ongoing positive-reinforcement training. My energy level: Poet has a moderate, youthful energy level. He enjoys daily walks, exploring the park, sniffing everything interesting and having cheerful bursts of play and zoomies. Once he has had some exercise and enrichment, he is very happy to settle down beside his people, enjoy a chew or have a nap. He doesn’t need to be constantly on the go, but will benefit from regular exercise, play, training and enrichment, with plenty of opportunities to sniff and explore. My suitability to children: A home with calm, dog-savvy older children may suit Poet, provided introductions are supervised and the children understand how to give him space while he is resting, eating or settling into his new environment. A quieter household is likely to help Poet feel comfortable and build his confidence. My suitability to other cats or dogs: Poet can be comfortable around calm and respectful dogs. He may approach for a gentle greeting before happily exploring nearby without needing constant interaction. Larger or very energetic dogs may initially make him uncertain, so slow introductions, plenty of space and allowing Poet to interact at his own pace are important. He would benefit from continued positive experiences with well-mannered dogs and may be able to live with a calm, compatible canine companion following careful introductions. He has yet to meet cats but likely would be okay with a slow intro.
