About Moth

Moth is a shy but playful young cat who is sweet, gentle and very inquisitive! So far, Moth doesn't like to be touched (but she will tolerate it when she's being given a creamy treat!). However she does enjoy a fair amount of human companionship, and will follow you around the house to watch what you're doing, and to hope that you might throw a string for her in between your tasks. She'd play all day, given the opportunity! She loves to pounce and chew and roll around with her toys. She likes to have a couple of toys left out on the floor so she can wrestle them when the humans aren't available to play. Her favourite game is "chase the biscuit", where she can show off her quick reflexes and hunting prowess. Moth is very food motivated and loves her biscuits. She's a little fussy about wet food, but will eat enough of it to take her daily medication (usually). She loves a creamy treat and this has been a great tool for building trust. Moth likes to sleep in boxes or hidey holes with soft blankets and towels. As a bit of a scaredy cat, she needs a good hiding spot or two. Having said that, she's recently taken to snoozing on the chair next to us while we relax on the sofa, but she's not interested in cuddles so far. She has ventured onto a human lap a couple of times to test it out, but she seems to prefer a bit more personal space. She came to us as a very frightened cat, and with lots of patience and quiet time spent together, we built up her trust. Her gorgeous goofy personality has come out and she is now a very inquisitive, active and curious girl. She is still quite vigilant and easily startled, but with patience, space and gentle encouragement she is opening up more every day. She'll sometimes come when she's called, and is a very smart and well behaved girl. She'd suit a quiet, calm house, probably as the only pet. She wouldn't thrive around young kids. Older kids who are really good with respecting her boundaries would probably be a good match, as she has lots of playful energy, but so far really doesn't like being touched. Medical Notes Moth has mild dental tartar and associated gum changes. This is very common in mature cats. Moth is located with her foster family in Nollamara.
