About Esther

Hi. I'm Esther. Before we go any further: yes, I'm the one who lived in a ceiling. Let's get it out of the way. ๐Ÿ˜ผ I came from a house with far too many cats, so I arrived at my foster home with strong opinions about humans and an exit strategy. Night two, I executed it: vanity ⇒ shower rail ⇒ extractor fan ⇒ "freedom" ๐Ÿ˜ป. I spent several days in the roof cavity living off crickets, and pointedly ignoring the KFC left out for me, because I refuse to be bought ๐Ÿ™„. Beneath me, my foster parents installed security cameras, called builders, and recruited a friend slim enough to fit through the manhole - all because the cat trap wouldn't go up any other way. They eventually hoisted it into the roof with me. Days later, I strolled into it, oh naivety ๐Ÿ™€, and was carried back down to earth in a cage like disgraced royalty. We don't talk about it. Then I hid in a cat cave for two months and growled at everyone ๐Ÿ˜พ. My foster mum sat near me every single day and read her book while I made it abundantly clear she was not welcome. She never left. Frankly, appalling boundaries. It turns out that's exactly what I needed: someone who kept showing up while I decided, in my own time, that the world might be safe after all. The real turning point was Baxter, the resident cat, who wandered in, looked at me, did an enormous wee in my litter tray, and wandered out ๐Ÿ˜พ. I have never seen such hubris. I decided he was worth studying. Now? I come out the second the door opens. I headbutt hands. I purr like a fridge that needs servicing ๐Ÿ˜ฝ. I eat my dinner in front of people, which took me months, thank you for noticing. When Ben, my foster dad, leaves his door open at night, I let myself in and sleep on his bed - which is, at this point, my bed. He doesn't get a say ๐Ÿ˜ผ. What I need: a calm house and someone patient, because I arrive on my own schedule and no earlier. I'd love to be your one and only, or at least have space that's properly mine for a good while - Baxter is fine in small doses but we bicker, mostly over dinner, and I always win ๐Ÿ˜น. Indoors only. Check your ceilings. I'm a fifteen-months-young grey Lady. Toys are beneath me, but I do like the odd kitty crack (creamy treats). I may be shy for a little while when I arrive. Then one day I'll walk over, put my head in your hand, and that will be that - you'll be mine, and I don't hand that out to just anyone ๐Ÿ˜ป. I just want somewhere quiet to be magnificent. Preferably with you. I am located with my foster family in Victoria Park. Click Register Adoption Interest to register your interest to see if I am the purrrfect fit for your family!
