About Dennis
Single White Cat seeks YOU. Are you looking for the strong (almost) silent type? Someone to sit and sleep alongside you on the warm days and the cool nights. A big buff guy with little ears that are all the better to hear you with… or are they? Who knows, but they are pretty darn cute!
Please let me introduce you to Mr Dennis Scaramoochi aka Mooch, Smooch, Moochi-smoochie, or 'my smoochie-smoochie boy'.
Mooch is an older bloke, about 7 years-old who came in off the street. Back in May, due to non-cancerous sun damage he had the tips of his ears amputated. For that reason he will need to be a strictly indoor cat. His ears are healed, now for his heart.
Mooch would love nothing more than his own home with or without a friendly cat pal. He has met the resident cats and a couple of the fosters and he is more than happy to live and let live. He's interested but ambivalent. When confronted by the bossy girl cat at his foster home he mostly moves away, he's a lover not a fighter.
Because of the bossy girl cat he has spent a lot of his time in his foster home hiding, but he's venturing out more now. And behind closed doors and after dark he's happy to come out and sit and watch the world go by, or curl up for a lovely long nap. His most favourite place to be, especially at night, is beside the adult foster humans making a few biscuits and spooning up for the night. That's what really makes him purr!
Moochi is not particularly fussy with food and despite being a big solid lad- he does not pig out. He is on the heavy side though, so go easy. He has been exemplary with his litter box use, he is very passionate about covering up his business and will spend much time ensuring everything is covered. This means he does end up sometime ejecting litter out of the box. We recommend a big Kmart bath mat or two. Then you can just pick them up and shake the litter into the garden or bin.
Mooch will mooch to begin with- you're going to need to encourage him to come and hang out with you- he may swear when you do… but he's all talk. He takes days, maybe even hours to come around. Moochi can get too much love and he will let you know by putting his teeth around you- it's not a bite, there's no pressure- he just needs you to know that's enough patting and scritches, for now. Once you stop he will relax back.
He has a couple of mouse toys and a ball he love, which will come with him.
Mooch hasn't lived with young children or dogs so we can't say how he would go with them. He's happy to accept pats from the resident teens when he is feeling relaxed.
Medical Notes
Dennis has mild dental tartar and associated gum changes. This is very common in mature cats.
Dennis has a heart murmur. The murmur has been assessed by Cat Haven veterinary staff as mild (grade three or less) and not likely to cause any adverse effects on their health.
Dennis has sustained long term sun damage to one or both ears, and in some cases the nose as well. This is quite a common issue in white cats that have previously spent time outdoors, and the consequences are similar to that of humans who spend too much time in the sun.
Dennis is located with his foster family in Lesmurdie. Click Register Adoption Interest to register your interest to see if he is the purrrfect fit for your family!
