About Kirk

Meet Kirk - a gentle, affectionate little gentleman who just needs a little time to show you how loving he really is. Kirk can be a little shy when he first meets new people and may take some time to feel safe. When he first arrived in foster care, he preferred staying in his crate and was too nervous to explore. But once he realised he was safe, his confidence gradually grew. Now, he is a curious, affectionate boy who loves being close to his people. Kirk absolutely loves pats, especially around his head and neck. Give him a good neck scratch and he may immediately flop onto the floor and roll over for more! He is even happy to have his tummy and tail gently patted, although he prefers his back legs to be left alone. Once he trusts you, he will rub against you, push his head into your hand for pats, and come running over for cuddles when you crouch down and call his name. He loves company and will often sit beside you while you work, wait nearby when you are home, and greet you when you return. He is also a champion biscuit-maker and loves kneading soft, thick blankets and fluffy cushions. Kirk has a playful side too. His current favourites are feather wand toys and his scratching board, which he happily entertains himself with for several minutes at a time. At home, Kirk is incredibly well behaved. He uses his litter tray perfectly, eats on a regular schedule, rarely makes a sound, and has not been destructive. When left alone, he is usually happy sleeping, using his scratching board, or quietly exploring the house. At night, he enjoys sleeping on our office chairs or in the familiar crate he brought from Cat Haven and occasionally likes sleeping near his humans too. Kirk would be best suited to a calm, quiet indoor home with someone who is happy to give him a little time to settle in. As Kirk is FIV+, he will need to remain indoors. He has not yet been tested around other cats or dogs. If you are looking for a quiet, sweet and affectionate companion who will reward your patience with plenty of head bumps, cuddles and gentle companionship, Kirk could be your perfect match. Medical Notes Kirk has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is a retrovirus that can compromise the immune system, spread by fighting and deep penetrating wounds. They should lead a normal life despite this diagnosis, but there are a few special considerations that need to be made in regards to their health and well-being long term. These include being an inside only cat ; slow and careful introduction to other cats; and annual vaccinations and health checks. Kirk has a waiver for a chipped tooth. Our veterinarians have carefully assessed this chip and no further treatment is currently required. Kirk has mild dental tartar and associated gum changes. This is very common in mature cats. Kirk is located with his foster family in Joondalup. Click Register Adoption Interest to register your interest to see if he is the purrrfect fit for your family!
