Let's be honest, Chase isn't looking for beginners. If you're after a cat who will stroll into your home, hop onto your lap on day one and immediately become your Instagram-famous cuddle buddy, Chase would like to politely suggest you keep scrolling. But if you've ever looked at a shy, slightly scruffy, street-smart cat and thought, "I can fix him", then we need to talk. Chase has spent enough time surviving on his own to know that trust is something that has to be earned. He's not handing it out for free. But beneath that tough exterior is a cat who is already showing glimpses of the affectionate companion he could become in the right home. When approached, Chase will often call out for attention and has started coming forward to seek human interaction. He approaches for pats, leans into touch, enthusiastically head-butts hands, raises his tail high, kneads his paws and even drools when he's enjoying himself. That's right, underneath all the street-cat swagger is a guy who gets so happy about affection that he short-circuits a little. Food is also one of Chase's great loves, and he has a solid reputation for being food motivated. If anyone is going to convince him that humans aren't so bad after all, it's probably going to be someone armed with patience, consistency and a pocket full of treats. That said, Chase is not a finished product. He is the sort of cat who will need time to settle, learn to trust and build confidence in a home environment. There may be setbacks. There may be moments where you wonder if he's forgotten all the progress you've made. Then one day he'll stroll over, rub against your legs, flop next to you on the couch, and you'll realise every bit of effort was worth it. What Chase needs is someone who understands that relationships aren't always instant. He needs an adopter who sees value in the journey, who can celebrate the small wins, and who understands that earning the trust of a cat like Chase is incredibly rewarding. This won't be the easiest adoption. It might, however, be one of the most satisfying. Chase is a tough nut to crack, but behind that shell is a sweet, affectionate boy just waiting for someone special to give him the chance. For the right person, he's going to be absolutely worth it.
