About Frodo

I was transferred to SPCA from the local pound as a young puppy to find my forever home Meet Frodo - Your Future Best Buddy! 🐾 Frodo is an adorable little goofball with a huge personality, a big heart, and an even bigger zest for life. This handsome young man has become a favourite with staff and volunteers thanks to his goofy antics, couch cuddles, adorable chatty personality, and ability to make people laugh wherever he goes. While Frodo has many wonderful qualities, he's not your average easy-going puppy. He is looking for a very experienced, adult-only home that understands he's still learning how to navigate the world and will need ongoing guidance, structure, and support to help him become the best version of himself. Because of this, Frodo will need adopters who are confident reading canine body language and are prepared to work alongside a qualified trainer or behaviourist to continue building his confidence and coping skills. He is not suitable for first-time dog owners and would not cope well in a busy household with lots of visitors coming and going. Frodo forms strong bonds with his people, and once he has that trust and feel secure he's a very loving affectionate goofball, but he can be nervous of unfamiliar people entering his home or personal space. When given calm introductions, patience, and positive reinforcement, he is capable of settling well and building trust. He has some other behavioural quirks, including sensitivity around items he finds valuable, and becoming more easily overwhelmed when stressed or overstimulated. His foster carers have seen excellent progress through consistent training, structure, and management, and his future family will need to be committed to continuing that work. The good news is that Frodo is a clever, highly trainable dog who genuinely enjoys learning. He walks beautifully on lead, has great recall foundations, he is fully toilet trained, settles well in the home, and loves both adventures and couch cuddles. As a young dog, he thrives when given clear boundaries, enrichment, and appropriate outlets for his energy. Frodo enjoys spending time with other dogs (and even gets along with cats!) and he has lovely social skills, but he has shown that he is happiest living as the only dog in the home. He'd be happy to enjoy dog friends on walks and playdates while keeping his home and family all to himself. Frodo isn't looking for a perfect home-he's looking for the right one. If you're an experienced dog owner who enjoys training, understands that progress takes time, and wants a fun, affectionate, rewarding companion, Frodo could be your perfect match. 💛🏡🐶
