I was transferred to the Wellington SPCA to find my forever home Hi, I'm Sophie, and I'm a sweet girl with a big heart who is looking for a very special family to call my own! 💕 I'm a lovely girl who is still learning about the world around me. Being deaf means I experience things a little differently, and I'll need a family who is willing to understand me, communicate with me in ways I can understand, and help me build confidence as I continue to learn. I'm still in need of some extra training, so my new family will need to be patient, consistent, and committed to helping me succeed. I'll need time and plenty of positive reinforcement to learn my manners, appropriate behaviour, and how to navigate everyday life safely. With gentle guidance, repetition, and lots of encouragement, I know I can continue to grow into a wonderful companion. Because I'm deaf, my family will also need to take a little extra care when communicating with me and keeping me safe. I'll benefit from learning hand signals and visual cues, and I'll need a family who understands that I may not always know what's happening around me. A secure, safely fenced outdoor area will be especially important, as I can't rely on hearing to respond to things like people calling me or approaching dangers. Most importantly, I'm looking for a patient and understanding family who won't expect everything to happen overnight. I'll need someone who is prepared to put the time into my training, celebrate the little wins, and help me become the confident girl I know I can be. I do have a medical waiver for my lack of hearing as well as a few other medical quirks the team can share with you. If you're looking for a sweet girl who may need a little extra patience, training, and understanding, but who has so much potential to become a wonderful member of the family, I could be the perfect match for you. 💕
